Carriers and Couriers of God's Presence

The Promised Paraclete--John 16:6-15
vs. 7 - "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go a way, the Helper (Paracletos - one called alongside to help of the intercessor) shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you."

I. Carriers of His Spirit... Couriers of His Presence

But when He, the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His on initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose (show and make known) to you what is to come." (John 16:13)

In chemistry--a carrier is a catalytic agent that causes an element or radical to be transferred from one compound to another.

The flowing of His Spirit makes us better worshippers (leaders, singers, musicians). Higher dimensions with greater levels of anointing (eternal deposit of mercy).

II. The Power of the Courier

Prime examples--David in the courts of King Saul with his harp:

"So it came about whenever the evil spirit from God came to Saul, David would take his harp and play it with his hand; and Saul would be refreshed and be well, and the evil spirit would depart from him." (I Sam 16:20-23)

harp--kinnowr' (kin-nore')--root meaning, to twang; to harp. David had intimate knowledge of his instrument.

I Sam 16:16,17--cunning player, skillful in playing, an expert player on a chorded instrument, one who plays excellently.

III. The Lord Is With Him, The Lord Is In Us

Verse eighteen said David was: a skillful musician (plays excellently), a mighty man of valor (brave, sturdy besides, a man of unusual power), a warrior (a fighter, a tried warrior), prudent in speech (wise in his words, quick-witted), a handsome mane (a man of good presence, personable), but more important still, the Lord is with him!

Remember, we are some of His vessels of mercy and grace, His vessels of honor and channels of power. We are carriers of His Spirit, and couriers of His Presence.

IV. The Power of the Courier--The Minstrel and Elisha

II Kings 3:14-15--The king of Israel enlists the help of the King Jehoshaphat, the King of Judah, and the King of Edom to go up against the King of Moab because of his rebellion.

Elisha is upset with the King of Israel because he came to seek out a 'prophetic word.' The King's mother and father had been party to a group of false prophets in the past.

vs. 14--"And Elisha said, 'As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, were not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look at you nor see you.'"

vs. 15--"'But now bring me a minstrel.' And it came about, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him."

The "minstrel played" is defined in the Hebrew word "nagan" (naw-gan') meaning to thrum i.e. to beat a tune with the fingers; esp. to play on a stringed instrument; hence to make music; make melody, to minstrel, to be playing. (Isaiah 30:27-32)

Releasing the atmospheres of His presence

Don't minimize the effect and ability of the Spirit to play and sing through you to the blessing of His people and the building up of His Kingdom.
